Event Information

Experience the full power and colour of the York Youth Orchestra in this uplifting Winter Orchestral Celebration, performed in the magnificent Creative Centre at York St John University – a £17 million venue designed for professional-level performance and creative collaboration.

Under the direction of Ben Crick, the orchestra presents a rich and varied programme including:

  • Berlioz – Roman Carnival Overture
  • Bruch – Scottish Fantasy, featuring Ethan Shum (violin soloist)
  • Delius – Sleigh Ride
  • Hely-Hutchinson – A Carol Symphony
This special concert follows the earlier schools performance, Together in Music, featuring primary pupils from Lakeside, Haxby Road, and Park Grove performing a new work by York composer Tim Brooks

The afternoon performance continues the celebration of youth music, showcasing the exceptional skill and commitment of the city’s young orchestral players. The York Youth Orchestra draws talented students from across the region, offering them the opportunity to work with professional conductors, perform major repertoire, and develop their musicianship in a supportive and inspiring environment.

A perfect way to begin the festive season — full of energy, colour, and orchestral brilliance.
